Don't Worry, We'll Keep in Touch - Gao
Prepare to be slightly underwhelmed... I know I said that for my past tracks, but this one seriously lacks coherence.
extra points if you catch the subtle Bach reference which makes this the spiritual successor of WTM and this is LOVE. And of course, extra points for spotting typos.
The editing involves a lot of text, so apologies for the pausing and head-tilting. I meant to make it look like a research paper. If you want to read the text in peace, here's a download link to a PDF file version plus the .sol: DWWKIT.zip

- After the video:
- So yeah, this is my last solo track for now (but expect at least one collab). I honestly don’t know if I’ll have time to check up on WRTL during the school year, but I’ll try to make appearances at least during the school breaks. I hope you guys continue to confront the LR existential crisis, and continue innovating like crazy. For instance, I want to see more creative omnis, like where each section is a different kind of emotional style, or an omni which has a scenery section, etc.
Yes, we will.
Glad I have a laptop.
Good work, good luck.
I'm really happy that someone finally tackled this track concept, and better, you did it in a way I hadn't thought of. I enjoyed the tracks and certainly I'll be rewatching this, but I think I'll leave the amazement to other posts, with the people who are better at those words.
<3 you too, Gao. Keep doing things. ^_^

You don't even understand how happy I am! This is such a genius idea, it's one of those things when you thought everything was already done, and then someone makes something completely new and special.
I am so jealous of your skills to make what you want to make. That clockwise shoulder granual at 0:18 just blew me away, I tried this so many times. The 2nd pos feet flings looked like something obvious and trivial. And the butt fling part... just mad

Awesome track. The idea was ingenius, but I must say this was the least ingenius chapter of your book The section with the feet contact points was my favourite, and I loved the recycled nose loop. You did some insane stuff with the butt as well!
I love the fact that your tracks are always consistently awesome. You never lose steam

During the butt section I realized what you had been doing throughout the track and I started screaming "NO FUCKING WAY" over and over at the screen. I don't give three and a half shits if Line Rider is a game or a toy; you beat it. You won. What the absolute legitimate fuck.
Seriously, this was one of the most incredible ideas I've ever seen executed (and so well done, to boot) in the history of LR, and there's no one better to have done it than you. You'll be missed, but I hope you have fun in France (I'm hella jealous you get to study at Louis-le-Grand) and, moreover, I hope the title of this track holds true.

I'm super happy that you cited my review ^.^ I'll make sure to make one for this track too.

I loved this track. The music and the editing gave it a feel that I have never seen.
Before you go on your hiatus, I'd like to tell you that you have been probably the biggest inspiration for my tracks. Mostly for making crazy good tracks consistently, I've looked up to you for quite some time. I never really talked to you or anything, but I want to say thanks for making all of these great tracks, and I am looking forward to having you back around here soon.

Watched the track, read the PDF and I initially felt like your previous tracks were somehow "better", but that this track is more intriguing.
I love the fact that you created an omni track like this, with these sections. I completely didn't notice it while watching it. Got it when watching the replay. At which point I read the PDF and re-watched the track and started marveling and the technical stuff that was pointed out in the PDF.
I think for me the tracks are usually about the way of movement in combination with the music, which you arguably have done better in your previous tracks (This is love, Well tempered manual, incidentally two of my most favorite tracks ever). And this track just comes in from a completely different direction that I am not used to (out of my comfort zone you could say) and it's opening my eyes to all the possibilities out there.
I think I'll appreciate this track more and more as time goes by and would like to thank you for the amazing works you have shared with us. I wish you all the best (and lots of fun) in Paris and good luck with your studies at Lycée Louis le Grand.
I'd like to make a toast to Gao! An inventive and inspiring individual. Cheers to you!

Re: Don't Worry, We'll Keep in Touch - Gao
gao wtf are you talking about, that was really coherent. Maybe a little less coherent than your other tracks, but your tracks are really coherent in general, and just so imbued with your style that we all know and love.
I just want to say that, at first, I was sorta underwhelmed, but then, in the peg section and butt section, it clicked, and then everything became really clever. A lot of people are starting to poke around with conceptual tracks, but you're way ahead of the game.
I didn't bother reading the sideways text because I'm aware you've intentionally made it difficult to read the analysis and also I don't want to tilt my head/rotate my laptop sideways for an extended period of time in a public area :| (i'll read the pdf later)
have fun in france dont get rekt

That was pretty cool. I could tell you didn't really have a certain style or look you were going for, but it turned out nice and kept good flow.

This track is a beaut. I'm gonna say more soon, but for now, just know that this is pure genius.

I'm actually a bit overwhelmed at the moment. You've once again succeeded in pulling off a conceptual track... really, really well. Once I'd realized what you did in this track during the credits, I was sold. Really honoured to have influenced you too.

Thanks for the responses! I know it wasn't the most refined of tracks; I only had two weeks to make it. Tomorrow I'm leaving for France, so this is my farewell until Christmas (maybe not the longest of hiatuses, but whatever).

Re: Don't Worry, We'll Keep in Touch - Gao
Lemme just start my response by saying this: I thought that WTM was way overrated, and I didn't particularly like it compared to the response you got. That said, I love this track so damn much. Best of luck to you with school!

yeah that's not actually a sequel to this track, but it's true.

I said I would review this track but I don't find myself with anything much to say besides, great concept and great job following through with it.
Re: Don't Worry, We'll Keep in Touch - Gao
Double post. OTDE and I both wanted to review this track so we did a video review!
