What file format is the song, and is your computer any good?

Song format is .mp3, haven't tried with .wav yet, but removing all the song from the folder doesn't solve it.
Is my computer any good? Absolutely.

I may have done a bad manip on my side (maybe a combination of buttons I shouldn't have pressed), I will try to reinstall the game and see what happens next.

Here's a big fat list of stuff from me doing 40 seconds of midspeed manuals and OTDE doing about 30,000 lines of scenery.

Things that are in 3.4.X and not in LRA, but should be:

  1. T toggling the pan tool
  2. A keystroke to quickly switch back and forth between edit mode and preview mode
  3. Don't remember the colors for pencil, straight line, eraser separately - keep the color selection the same when switching tools please
  4. Switch line type between red and blue without redrawing the line
  5. Switch the direction of an accel line without redrawing the line
  6. A way to draw an accel line backwards (from the pointy end to the other end)
  7. Time based autosave
    Spoiler:
    for people who experience frequent crashes, and to prevent loss from accidentally closing the game
  8. A way to quickly multiline (e.g. line settings or key press) without having to manually draw second line on top of the first
    Spoiler:
    multilining is both more versatile (because you can multiline as many times as you damn well please) and more compatible with other versions than the entirely-different-physics 2x and 3x accel lines

Suggestions for small features in LRA:

  1. Ability to lock all tools in green and lock all track lines from deletion or modification
  2. A way to pan while paused besides manually clicking on the pan tool
    Spoiler:
    because spacebar is mapped to unpause the track
  3. Be able to adjust two line endpoints at once if they are snapped to the same point
    Spoiler:
    Any time I need to adjust a curve, I have to do it the Beta 2 way - erase and redraw
  4. Be able to select or move a line by clicking on the line segment, not the endpoint
    Spoiler:
    because endpoints are often snapped to other lines' endpoints (e.g. in manuals, flatsled, scenery, or really anything besides quirk) making it hard to tell which line is being selected and making some lines impossible to select without moving or deleting the lines it is snapped to
  5. Be able to trigger an autozoom at a specific time instead of in the event of a hit test line collision
    Spoiler:
    Because quite often I need to start zooming on a frame where he is not colliding with a line for the first time (e.g. after a moment in a stall or during airtime). Really you should just have a keyframe system (like any time-based editing software for animation/video/audio) where you designate a time and a zoom level for the start of the zoom, and a time and a zoom level for the end of the zoom


Bugs and glitches:

  1. Zoom trigger only works on blue lines
  2. You can't erase a green line after adjusting it from a position where it was snapped to another line
    Spoiler:
    Basically prevented OTDE from using the line adjust tool on green lines at all
  3. Scrubbing gives different behavior than playing the track from the flag or the start
    Spoiler:
    This happened to me about a dozen times over one 3-hour trackmaking period. I would work on something with scrubbing, then play it from the flag and he would crash. I tried restarting the game, kept happening (Eventually stopped happening though) I sent you skype messages while it was happening and sent you the trk
  4. Green lines sometimes appear behind existing accel lines when drawn
  5. If I press a hotkey immediately after clicking on something in LRA (or releasing the mouse after scrubbing) the hotkeys stop working (have to click on LRA to get them to work again)
    Spoiler:
    May be due to high lag, e.g. 15-25 fps, and also possibly specific to my computer (mac)
  6. LRA crashes if the display driver stops working for a moment
    Spoiler:
    It appears to be the only program we know of that this causes to crash. OTDE's computer (windows)
  7. LRA occasionally freezes my whole computer while switching between windows
    Spoiler:
    I can click between windows but not access the Dock or any menu or use any programs. Sometimes the cursor stays as a LRA tool. The fix I found is to close my laptop and wait for a few seconds (until I hear the static in my earbuds stop), then reopen it, and everything is unfrozen. This may have been my computer (mac) on those particular 2 days, and it may not be directly related to LRA, though it only ever happened while switching to LRA from another window while streaming

Oh, also have it ask if you want to save, quit, or save and quit when you exit the program and autosave if it detects a forced process kill
Also can we please just overwrite saves and/or include authorship information and optional description?

Thanks for the thought out response rabid. I'll add at least 50% of those ideas. Probably way more. I'm on vacation right now though for the weekend. Just wait for beta 0.1! Big things coming

I'm definitely adding and changing a lot of shit but another big thing that you guys won't notice is I'm changing the code base a lot to better fit management. This code base started as me putting it together quickly as possible because I was trying a bunch of different game libraries like XNA monogame and sfml. But noe I'm taking the time to make it a more managable code base.

At which point you'll be able to insert features instead of hacking in crap in with no rhyme or reason

I propose a feature where the line length locks but not the angle with a certain modifier

More stuff wooo

  • Only left shift works
  • fps is completely disabled if it's disabled for recording mode
    Spoiler:
    as in it doesn't show up in non recording mode if the box is checked
  • Lines should snap to other lines BEFORE a key release
    Spoiler:
    so we don't have to guess if it's gonna snap or not. This is another things that makes LRJS really good for snapping
  • A mode where it makes sure to show every frame and slow down instead of skip frames
    Spoiler:
    had some trouble with LRA skipping frames while recording The Gorge, had to splice in a second recording to get the rabidsmooth
  • Be able to auto zoom out to less than what is currently zoom level "1"
    Spoiler:
    it's actually not very zoomed out. I need to zoom out to about 0.5 to record OTDE's track... Also, LRA's editor doesn't allow for a very low zoom level, beta 2 could zoom out WAY more, and this is very frustrating to me
  • Be able to autozoom over more than 25 seconds (999 frames)
    Spoiler:
    OTDE's track needs to zoom over 37 seconds which is impossible in LRA
  • OTDE got an unhandled exception twice in a row when opening a track and drawing a single line. Stopped happening the next day.


EDIT: forgot this one

  • Proposed additional option to lifelock: Allow for movement to any location while Bosh remains alive, but not to a location where he dies from a location where he lives


I also like dap's suggestion of length-lock

EDIT2:

  • save load box wider to accommodate longer names
  • let lines snap while using the adjust tool

EDIT3:
  • Camera location keyframes? just an idea

the sled breaking is part of the original physics, not sure how he'd change that without upsetting other stuff

also keeping the sled non broken is part of the challenge of offsled


also, i dont know how you could add this without further hotkey confusion, but a toggleable and changable angle snap would be really great.  like if I put it on 5 degrees, it would snap to every five degree thing, just like how it snaps to 45 degrees now.

I was skyping with OTDE and he couldn't figure out a way to get bosh offsled without breaking it, it seemed to always break about a second after going offsled no matter what you did to it. I tried it myself and it seems to break a second later for literally no reason. I pulled his shoulder with a line that did not touch any sled contact points and it broke after a second of falling

EDIT: it also seems to flip backwards when it breaks

Two more suggestions:
- Way to erase only lines not triggered by hit test
- If you insist on redisplaying the hit test for just a small section of track near bosh every time you draw or erase a line, could you please add a keystroke to re-test all lines before where bosh is for hit test? Sometimes I want it to redo the whole track even if it is laggy.

I was trying to erase lines not used using hit test (for scenery) and these were both seriously annoying issues.

suggestion: when you save, the current location of bosh is also saved, as well as any flags

edit: maybe extending this to preferences as well
