sonic speed/Animation collab project

Post by SethComposerGuy on Sun Jun 14, 2015 7:59 am

I have decided this is a good time to start organizing an official project involving extreme track speeds for the purpose of creating animation.
As of right now, I have a pretty cool start to this project and am working on getting bosh up to speed, and I will post an update with more guidelines, specifically with what speeds to aim for.

For now, the idea is that sceners will be created along with the making of the track and will switch back and forth between the 2. You are allowed to create some scenery on top of the track you created, but keep in mind that there will likely be those who have no interest in creating track at such high speeds and just want to scene. Finally There is no need to have the whole track scened, especially if you notice a trick that is too good to miss, or you may want to leave a few frames unscened to make for a more smooth transition.

For splitting purposes, if you want to erase some scenery, be sure to leave about 10 frames or so of scenery alone, in case the next person wants to continue the animation that the previous person did.

When you save what you did use your lr name + whether your did track (t for short), scenery (s for short) or both. example: SCGst

Finally for now, when you take the track, announce that you're taking it and let us know if you're extending the track, making animation, or both, and when you complete your section, please announce at what frame counter the scenery stops at and what frame counter the track stops at to give every one a good idea what needs to be done next.

Also, please use version 3.4.x for the track with the zoom level set at 600.
For track makers, try to keep bosh above 200ppf for better looking animation, minimize the effect of tiling.
I'd like the track length to be roughly 1:00 to 1:30 in length depending on how much interest I get for this.

Let me know if you have questions or confused about anything in the rules. if unsure how to animate, see http://iridethelines.forumotion.com/t11124-doing-animation-in-linerider-the-easy-way

@Rabid, feel free to lock the viberate scened collab as I'd rather concentrate my efforts on organizing this project.

SCG track, scenery
Sheldon: scenery

ok, I'm complete with the first section. animation stops about 4.30 seconds track ends at 5.00 seconds
mediafire.com download/za5w834xtcj6x1f/animatecollabsavedLines.sol I really hope this collab takes off.

hey you can just keep him going hella fast downward. I have a method of stopping bosh in 2 frames reguardless of speed and I could do that for this collab

Ya, that sounds like a good plan for the ending. As for the track itself, it would be good to at least have some directional changes so it doesn't just go down. Also, though I'm not requiring people to do any super technical tricks in this collab, as long as the track looks smooth and doesn't interfere with the scenery.

Holy wow. Just checked it out. Would there be any room for experimentation? I have done very little stuff over 200ppf and also very little animated scenery. Are you okay with people taking it to try stuff out or are you looking for a crazy good track and crazy good scenery?

You're free to experiment. I'm not looking for anything spectacular track or scenery wise, since there have been very few tracks at such high speeds, and I feel this is a good way for people to get their feet wet in trying out animation. if you have any trouble or questions, feel free to ask.

K, I completed a small section. the last couple seconds has been just air time with animation, so it would be cool if someone would be willing to add some track before continuing with more animation. As a tip, click to enable play back tools, press play, pause the track, then skip forward to the frame you want to start creating track on, and traw a line where you want to affect bosh, and you will have a much easier time quirking at such high speeds.
here's the most recent sol file. mediafire.com download/7wdrmjds3bqp82w/hyper_animated.sol

This is for the animators. I would recommend taking some of these principles into account while you animate! http://youtu.be/l-KtwW6eptM

Here's a cool technique for those of you that want to try rotoscoping in line rider!!

1. Download a video
2. set your project's framerate to 40fps
3. Plop a video on it
4. do the live draw trick in line rider
5. Use powermenu to make the window transparent
6. trace frame, move rider forward
7. move video forward one frame
8. repeat

You now have a rotoscoped animation in Line Rider!

how would one set the frame rate to 40fps? and how would one go about separating each frame?

Premiere allows you to go frame-by frame by tapping on either the left or right arrow keys. It also allows you to set a sequence to whatever fps you want.

any way to get premiere for free? and does powermenu make any window transparent?

If you aren't going to be using it to make money, feel no shame in torrenting it. It is what I did to get on my feet and once I had enough saved up I started paying for it.

i would agree with this when it comes to an application, but i would disagree when it comes to entertainment. games, movies, and music obviously aren't going to be used to make you money, but people torrent them all the time.
