We must make this the longest track in history. I nominate that we use Through The Fire and Flames as our song choice to represent the struggles we've faced as a community.

Also I call dibs on recording because I want to make sure we have the highest possible quality when we record this.

some boxes with a set style within it, for example a box for compact quirk, a box for manuals, a box for xy, etc and bosh can come and go from each box as he likes?

I like that a lot actually. But what about high speed styles? I feel like drawing a box for high speed might be a little hard to do.

alternating sizes? so for high speed would be a 2x2 box? or 3x3 box?

maybe we could do a box for each year and its encompassing style, and finish with 2016, we could do 1 min on each year making a 10 min track

This should just be a frestyle omni. The only real planning should be more on a sync level. If we plan this out part per style, it wouldn't be a real tribute, each of our parts should play on what we do best to show off the variety of tracks we've made as a community.

Re: Decade Collab

Post by Sheldon on Sun Apr 26, 2015 3:37 pm

i think it should be an omni of omnis, with possibly different songs for each. with each style grouped together
for example

part 1
XY:
lowspeed dense xy
highspeed xy
flowy xy
x
y
future xy

part 2
manuals:
blue manuals
stylish manuals(georg,1473, silhouette, that kinda shit)
highspeed manuals
integration

part 3
quirk:
alt quirk
progressive quirk
fling quirk
future quirk
manuirk

part 4:
flatsled:
highspeed
recycling

could also be a gradual transition kinda thing
starts with
lowspeed dense xy
floaty xy
stop and go xy
standard xy
highspeed xy
x
y
future xy
back to standard xy
z 45
xyz
transition to alt quirk
alt quirk
progressive quirk
fling quirk
future quirk
highspeed fling quirk with manuals
manuirk
highspeed manuals
integration
slow down
stylish manuals
silk road style manuals
flatsled recycling
speed back up
highspeed flatsled(battlefield)
freestyle
finish with future quirk

i like the latter

I've always wanted to make a track to that song. It will make the track so much more epic.

I feel like ending with future quirk is pretty cliché with things like these. Will scenery be included in this at all? Ending with scenery might be cool. Slowly transitioning the future quirk into a pretty long scened manual part or something would be awesome in my opinion. I can't see a 10 year anniversary track not including scenery.

I'm actually a bit against planning here. It might just be good if we did something in the style of ELR collab. That said, if we go with the full-blown track planning, I'll do what I normally do.

I love this idea. Song suggestions from yours truly!
Going with long stuff here (obviously) and stuff that goes through a variety of moods/feels/vibes/whatever. I think it might be easier to pick a song first and plan around it, since that's what I always do. Also, I'm totally down for TTFAF, but it's kinda just go-go-go and doesn't fluctuate much, which might be ill suited to an omni of any size.
Relatively in order of my preference:

1. Invalids - "The Horse Raced Hardest Lost": An incredible song that I believe showcases the spirit of innovation of LR in its blend of technical performance and artistry. This song goes through a wide array of complexities and intensities, and has an amazing climax near the end that could really let us summarise our past and bring us into the future. Shoutouts to HG. (Also see "Satellite," "Bismarck," and "Sherwood Is Connector," all awesome songs by the same guy that fit the bill potentially, though not as perfectly IMO.)
Spoiler:

2. Hoyle - "Islands": This band is great (shoutout Votale) and they do changes in intensity amazingly well. This song has a really strong message of community as well, and I really just like the vibe it gives off. A powerful song, one with a lot of room for experimentation and one that I think fits a lot of styles.
Spoiler:
https://open.spotify.com/track/6iwKsbGrRfnHf0r6zUMYmO
Sorry, I couldn't find this song like anywhere

3. Ivan Gough, Feenixpawl, Georgi Kay - "In My Mind (Axwell Remix)": Yeah, it's an overplayed, slightly old club banger, but oh my god it's just plain powerful. This song has so much potential for buildup and release; we could make a truly epic track to this. (I've always dreamed of doing a kinda future-quirk sync to this on my own, but there's no way I could do six minutes of track.)
Spoiler:

4. Savant - "♥ (Heart)": Everything I've said about the above songs, but in an awesome funky electro-house feel. Three drops, all different, all high-energy; that's not to say there aren't more relaxed parts, though. A rare example of an electronic song that meshes with virtually all styles.
Spoiler:

5. Animals As Leaders - "CAFO": This is one of the craziest and most diverse songs from an amazing (and occasionally used in LR videos, shoutout Kramwood) band, I feel like there's a lot of room to explore different styles and intensities and make them flow smoothly into and out of each other with this song.
Spoiler:

6. Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Electronica - "Control": Three wildly different verses, including the most fire bars of all time (just saying). This song goes from upbeat to violent to smooth, and we could definitely bring out some style contrast with this.
Spoiler:

7. Any of the following pimpin' electro-funk-house extravaganzas that I'd recommend for the same reasons as I mentioned in "Heart," although there's a bit less variation in these:
Nhato - "Hello World"
Nhato - "Eureka"
Mord Fustang - "Welcome To The Future"
ak9 & Dave Schiemann - "Stryker"

Spoiler:

8. Phace & Noisia - "Micro Organism": A little more out-there, but if we want to try to capture an "evolution" sort of feel, this could be incredible. Hard to pull off, perhaps, but we could create a vision of modern Line Rider coming to a crashing halt and then re-evolving from the metaphorical primordial soup of the innovation of the past.
Spoiler:

And if we're feeling really suicidal, either of these monstrosities:

9. Dream Theater - "Octavarium": Fuck. This song is awesome.
Spoiler:

10. Rush - "2112": A huge classic-rock odyssey with a story of conflict and the desire to create art. Sounds fitting enough for LR.
Spoiler:

Re: Decade Collab

Post by Sheldon on Sun Apr 26, 2015 9:34 pm

i really like hoyle islands could work for the scenery/track combo but would be far less track.
Control was cool.. but very long.
micro organism i feel like would be cool, but would require very precise syncing to pull off.
i feel like savant has a good balance and a very retro feel which could be good...
