How to watch Livestream without FPS Drops using VLC!
Hiya guys, so on Sunday I was trying to watch the Squirrel Broadcast and my internet wasn't doing too well. The stream was pretty choppy at times, audio was cutting out, video froze occasionally too. I was looking for some stream watching alternatives to increase viewing quality and here's what I found. This works for Windows, at least.
Use this if the stream's lagging on your end a lot. Hope this helps. ^^
Step 1:
Download VLC Media Player if you haven't already. The program launches with VLC.
Step 2:
Download and setup Livestreamer from Github.
Step 3:
Create a new text file, open it in NotePad. Copy and paste the following into the text file.
Opening the file should open a console, and it might take a bit, but VLC will open and play the WRTL livestream!
Alternate Step 3: (less work, no .bat file, but you have to do it each time)
Open the run menu (Windows Key + R), open the console by typing in cmd and pressing run, then type
Notes:
You can change the livestream URL to any livestream you want, and you can also change the quality. Livestream only has two quality settings though (best and worst), so I went with best. After changing the file extension, you can still edit the file in NotePad by right clicking and clicking edit.
There might be a little more delay using VLC rather than the livestream site, so there's not really too much of a need to use this over the site unless you're having performance issues.
You won't be on the livestream site with the chatbox, and you won't be in the viewer list. If you want the chatbox, you can pop it out on the livestream site.
VLC will not launch if no one is streaming. It won't play the line rider videos playlist, it just won't launch.
Closing the console will close VLC, closing VLC will close the console.

Rename the text file with "all file extensions" on and change the file extension to .bat. Name it "livestream.bat" or something similar, I guess.@echo
cd c:\program files (x86)\livestreamer
livestreamer.exe http://www.livestream.com/wrtl best
@echo off
