The reference it's supposed to make is how builds have played a pivotal role in well... everything. it allowed for XY tracks to flourish, gave us ways to measure speed and time, giving room to contests and collaborations, allowing us to be more precise, more dynamic, make our tracks better, smoother, more appealing to eye. And this isn't just limited to newer builds, FSK influenced it as well with moveable start points, different line types, zoom, etc. etc. Reason why I'm picking the pencil code is because that's the first tool everyone uses when they play line rider for the first time.

EDIT: Also I can wait for the progress to get here, I'm asking ahead of time to reserve this slot. if that's okay with everyone.

Well... It's not scenery.

It's not going to create a "whoa that's cool" for the viewer, it's gonna create a "what the hell is that" moment.

Not to say that anything you've said isn't true. But we're trying to make a track, not a self-reflective thing that makes "references" that would need to be explained in the credits to have any meaning at all to the average viewer. So, thanks for the idea, and I'm glad you felt free to share it, and feel free to throw out more in the future for this and other projects, but I'm gonna have to say no :/

i think it would be cool because "future quirk" implies "future" scenery AKA things that havent been explored or scened before. 2 cents

I don't think scenery in the future will involve drawing the text of the code inside the game. What if we made some code he rode inside of the letters of instead of the future quirk? Would that have been a good ending?

so i've done some sketching out and heres what i've come up with

http://imgur.com/fHoXHad

i'll make a bridge over water (stylized similar to the water of that one manual mayhem) then have a waves crash into a cliff side of sharp rocks. the big log thing will be a pine tree similar to the one in transcedental. and i assume we'll be splitting soon so after i do this detail it;ll be at about 12k or 13 so this is all i've planned for as of now

Re: Evolution of Line Rider Scened: Let's do this. Community Project.

Post by rabid squirrel on Wed Nov 19, 2014 5:15 pm

Bleh. sorry but this stuff is like, literally straight out of 2008 (MMX, transcendental) and we want to move forward. The scenery we just left is incito-scaena style scenery, and that was like, circa 2010, and we want this to be "past" that, which doesn't really exist haha but it has to be new and different.

Continuing the trajectory from the LRG-style scenery CC made to the awesome busy abstract stuff ghosty made, I think the next place to go would be something more abstract and bolder that flirts with animation and is simpler. And then as we move toward the end we should get totally unafraid of filling in shitloads of black, and also move towards emphasizing the quirk lines and how they affect Bosh.

I think I can totally use your help, GhostY, but I think I need to do the concept-level sketching-out stuff and I'll contact you for detail stuff and for things like filling in the shitloads of black I am sure there will be, heh.

I'll get to this by thanksgiving if not before. Want to finish my repeating track scenery entry and then battle royale track, but then I will put this next on priorities.

Post by efrazable on Sat Jan 24, 2015 2:41 pm

just thought i'd bump this simply for brainstorming ideas

I'd like to suggest a section with monuments from all over Line rider history, like a collage, including monuments from:
Lilac Wine
Incito Scaena
Roborant
NODA
Remix Session 2 Scened
Mysteria Series (crow, octopus, serpent, butterfly, etc)
Bolted (not the top of the wall, Marley Jones the octopus)
Something(s) from BS
etc

might be a bad idea, but thoughts?

EDIT: i'd also like to eventually host a contest akin to ToC but for art. less for competitiveness, but more for appreciation of line art throughout LR history, but that's a topic for another time

EDIT2: i've studied these, and think that I could do justice to the Lilac Wine and NODA monuments for a part in this Very Happy

I like the idea as long as it done in a new way or captures the style of those monuments, but not copied out right.

I really don't like the idea of trying to scene future quirk with monuments that are meant to be seen at the very end of a track. Whatever we draw has to complement the crazy quirk lines and make sense with the movement of Bosh...

I'm sorry it's taking me so long to get to this. I have a ton on my plate .-.

How about super impressive BHCS-style detailed scenery? yes? no? maybe?

BHCS never scened future quirk, and if he did it would have not really worked. I've heard tons and tons of suggestions about making super detailed scenery with a theme, or making throwback scenery, or making a bunch of monuments, but those all belong to the LRG-era scenery we already did earlier in the project, aka they don't work with future quirk stuff.

Basically for this to work we have to create a new scenery style that really truly works with future quirk. I have said this loads of times and it's really time for me to sit down and figure out how to actually do it, but I just seem to be perpetually busy with loads of other projects (not to mention administration stuff) ...before I get to this I have my battle track and a short project that I absolutely HAVE to make before I do anything else...

Another idea would be to do some epic 3d illusion stuff, some examples would be here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8tngtNgXl4

Moizut style scenery might work, like this and his track dystopia (which I can't seem to find).

3d illusions only work in real environments on the street :P otherwise they're just normal paintings :P
@Yobanjojoe wrote:Moizut style scenery might work, like this and his track dystopia (which I can't seem to find).
It's unlisted but you can find it in the exceptional playlist. I will be taking some ideas from this, particularly the perspective stuff. But there's some other covering-up-the-lines stuff I don't like and I'll be steering away from drawing things that appear IRL
@Rafael wrote:What about something among the lines Conun tried at O2B?
Actually yeah this is kinda where we're going. but more emphasis on the lines themselves and showing them instead of covering them up, and also trying to emphasize how the lines affect the movement of bosh. Like, you know, how scened quirk really should be :P (team rabidghost, I'll sketch stuff and he will hammer it out haha)

In the meantime, if anyone DOES want to take a shot feel free to, but I've rejected a number of parts already so be prepared for that Smile

I had one other idea which would be to take advantage of the recent ability to make dots with scenery lines example

here's something I cooked up real quick. It's not much but it might help for ideas.
