Old site back up! (sort of)

Well, the old www.iridethelines.com site is back up, but only admins can see it right now. TD says he wants to upgrade it to vB 3.8.4.

If/when we do move back there, I can promise you that (if TD doesn't have a problem with it) everyone will keep their ranks on here, and the layout, stickies, and section rules that are currently on this site will be kept for the most part when we move (meaning the old site is going to need some serious overhauling lol) But the old skin, the old hax, and all that cool stuff that was on the old site will also be there.

No guarantees on when we will move back, but we'll see. Go easy on TD, his RL isn't so hot. I'll keep everyone updated!

I may have some polls in the IRTL Center about various features we may want to change/keep/trash/whatever. I'll put links in this announcement or a new one when/if they go up.

P.S. TD says:

You may or may not notice.. this forum is using vBulletin v3.6.5. The current stable version is v3.8.4. Even before the site went down, I had always intended to update the core vBulletin version, but most likely certain commonly expected components in IRtL may either go away or be differant, or require updated mods.. etc..

So, firstly I wanted to make sure I had My Admin Passwords updated and changed.. so that whoever took us out before couldn't just walk in.. Secondly, I'm porting the users and threads and forums, etc.. from here, now that it's up and can be properly ported to a test site where I will work out any skin changes needed, any mods needed, and any updates needed..

I may, if that seems like it will take a while, open here again first.. but if it's not going to take more than a day or so.. it's been down for 4 months.. I believe.. why open then risk not being current when I change to the new stuff

As for personal life.. no.. still without work.. still living below poverty... day to day.. but I'm alive, and each day I wake up and I'm breathing must be a good day.

Lines, when you aren't paying for the host, vB license, hacks, and you
aren't investing the time in themes and images as TD has.

It's not your site, don't go rushing TD to do what YOU want. Let him do
what he wants, and get the site going. THEN bug him for root admin
access. (I know special things..

Don't go removing a WHOLE RANK THATS EXISTED FOR OVER A YEAR AND STILL
HAS MANY ACTIVE MEMBERS IN IT because it wasn't in the temp site. The
whole point of not having it on the temp site was because its a temp
site. Now that we have the full site, it should be returned to what it
was. I'd like to see you have your rank pulled from you (and not have a
chance of getting any higher) for no fault of your own.

Also, for fun, http://iridethelines.com/forum/admincp is on 3.8.4, and
http://iridethelines.com/forums/admincp is on 3.6.5. Lols.

Uhh, we're not making any changes to the actual forum until the host and vB license etc. are sorted out. And of course we're letting TD do what he wants first, and we'll consult with him about the changes that we want to make. >_>

+ We don't like having 12 ranks, and it's not like TD invented Power Rider, anyway. >_>

^ the only thing TD is doing is upgrading to vB 8. the license is still valid, and I don't think he's paying money for it.

I don't want to say "do what you want" and then have him disappear again. I'd almost rather stay here.

TBH (sorry if you're reading this TD) I'm still a little annoyed that he just disappeared for 4 months without a word about anything and didn't respond to my calls or emails.

And heck, do you know how many changes we made (over more than a year on the old site) that TD didn't even know about? (AFAIK anyway, maybe he was lurking) Sure, I'll make sure he doesn't object to anything. But that's why I posted what I did, so he knows just what I have in mind. I'm just trying to be honest.
